Photographer’s Eye by Michael Freeman
The Photographer’s Eye by Michael Freeman is a beautifully presented and affordable primer on how to take great, professional quality digital photos. The first 60% of the book deals with the basic technical aspects of choosing and designing an image. The last two chapters focus more on artistry and the more subtle aspects of photography, such as the message in an image, the photographer’s intent, different photographic aesthetics and how the author views their use, and much more.
If you feel like you might be ready to take your digital photography beyond family photos and amateur chronicles of vacations and personal trips, this is a great first book. Lots of photos, both amateur and professional, and easy to understand, straightforward text make this primer a must have for any beginning photographer’s library. The Photographer’s Eye retails for $29.95.
