And so the Hubble space telescope continues to bring back absolutely amazing images, another of which  we will be taking a look at today.  Today we’ve got the dragon galaxy, which as it turns out, isn’t really a galaxy so much as it is an optical illusion.

When you take a look at that picture to your right, it really does look like a gigantic dragon is flying through space.  In fact, it almost looks like something out of Dragon Ball Z.  Like Goku and Gohan could be flying around on the back of that thing.

But what you’re actually seeing is just the bottom half of a spiral galaxy, that’s been somewhat distorted by a combination of gravity and sheer distance.  Frankly, it doesn’t really matter so much to me just what exactly caused it as the fact that it really looks awesome.

The Hubble continues to bring back incredible pictures of space, and as long as there’s more to see, will put them up right here.
