Project Noah comes to iOS
After reporting on SciSpy at our sister site mobilewhack this morning, I found another Photo App that looks pretty much just like it. Like SciSpy, it is designed for the curious user to document and learn about nature. It has three modes:
In Spottings, the user takes a photograph of a plant or animal and then select the appropriate category, location, descriptive tags, and then submit it. The community will help you find the species ID if you can’t figure it out.
The Location-based Field Guide is made for identifying what kinds of plants and animals have been spotted near you in order to learn more about them. You can search through a map view, list view, or a grid view based on location.
Then there is Field Missions, which works with labs, environmental groups and various organizations to get important data for the research projects.
Like SciSpy, the App is a free at the iTunes store. Oddly enough, the Project Noah App is labeled Education while SciSpy is Entertainment. Weird labeling system, don’t you think?
