Readot turns a 2D photo into a 3D pin-pression
This one device reminds me of those Pin Pressions, those things full of dull pins that you press to your face to make an impression of your visage. Imagine being able to take a device like that and put it over a photograph, and get a tactile, 3D image of what was on the photo.
This is the Readot, the invention of Lim Hyoseon, Kim Seungmo, and Kim Suhyun. It won the 2009 Red Dot Award, and could create a new way of perception for the visually impaired. It is still concept technology, and designed to print out these images on a printer.
