Review: Nikon D40
Looks like the lucky folks at ePhotozine were able to get their hands on the Nikon D40 and liked it for its user-friendly controls, it light-weight body, its good noise control and the extra additions in the menu. What they didn’t dig was the exclusion of the top screen, the fact that the new battery is not compatible with other cameras, it supports only SWM Motor Lenses and has no optional vertical grip!
With the Nikon D40, Nikon did not succumb to the Pixels race and have stuck to a 6MP Resolution and this one pretty great for an amateur photographer. It includes features like; ISO 3200 Setting, t customizable Auto ISO, a viewfinder , shorter, a bright and large LCD monitor, SDHC support, in-camera retouching etc. The D40 lacks an internal focus drive motor meaning it can be Auto Focused with only AF-S and AF-I lenses (those with built-in focus motors).
In the end the website writes “As an entry-level camera, the improvements over the D50 are all in the right areas. Sticking with the 6.1MP sensor is a sensible move, as most folk do not need the resolution offered by higher pixel counts and the saving in both hard disc storage and processing speed will be appreciated by many, even if they don
