Ricoh Launches GPS Unit and Has Firmware for 500SE Camera

Ricoh has been quite active these days. Besides launching a new GPS unit, the company has also released a new firmware for its 500SE camera.

The SE-2 GPS module has been developed by EKA Technologies Inc. and it comes in two versions. The SE-2g is a GPS only module while the SE-2C ads a 3-axis compass to that GPS capabilities. The models will be available for $169 and $399, respectively.

As for the firmware update, the new software will improve your 500SE camera. It will definitely enhance the ability to store field data and embed that data into images for GIS mapping apps. Other significant additions to your future images are the GPS position, azimuth and UTC satellite time which will be directly printed onto them.
