Samsung CEO Squashes Pentax Acquisition Rumors

Take it from the CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging (SDI), Samsung is no longer interested in buying Pentax Corporation. Considering that Samsung has been aggressive as far as developing and releasing new cameras and digital imaging technology, it doesn’t really make sense for them to buy Japan’s Pentax at this stage.

Though they may be targeting a larger chunk (15%) of the global compact camera market, it seems that SDI can pretty much do this on their own. And as long as Samsung continues its current strategy, don’t be surprised if they do get more than their targeted market share.
