Samsung MX20 Flash Camcorder–Option Overload
Sometimes a camcorder does its job entirely too well, as is evidenced by the SC-MX20 from Samsung. It offers a wide array of features–the lone problem is that the array may be entirely too vast for its own good.
The Samsung SC-MX20 includes an SDHC memory card slot, a 34x optical zoom (1200x digital zoom), a 2.7′ LCD display with both face detection and digital image stabilization. It has a three hour battery life, and can shoot up to sixteen hours of video on one memory card. It’s small, it’s light, it’s spectacularly easy to handle, and it comes with an absolutely enormous array of menu options.
In fact, the array of options is quite possibly TOO large. Though the SC-MX20 is specifically optimized for things like uploading to YouTube, it’ll do a whole lot more than that. It’s actually pretty difficult, especially for a beginner, to sort through the monstrous array of options that this camera will put forth. It’ll do just about everything except iron your socks. Worse yet, it requires a memory card to operate, as it has no onboard memory.
Despite the fact that the camera is attractively priced at two hundred dollars (bargains are to be had everywhere if you look in the right place), it’s just got entirely too many bells and whistles for a beginner to easily–or simply–navigate through. But if you’re looking for something with a few extra possibilities to it, then Samsung might have the camera you’re looking for.
