Samsung SL605 Camera Review–Incredible Value Here Too

Samsung has offered an exciting array of cameras–some much better than others–and the more I come in contact with Samsung gear the more I wonder if maybe they haven’t found a niche here.  Today we’re talking about the Samsung SL605, and it’s got a lot going for it.

The Samsung SL605 is a twelve megapixel camera that offers a 5x optical zoom with an augmenting 3x digital zoom, a 2.7 inch LCD screen, image stabilization, face detection, the Smart Auto function that selects one of a variety of scene modes depending on the conditions at hand, built in autofocus, a variety of white balance modes and special effects, movie mode for video clips, an unusual 9.9 megs of onboard memory and a USB interface for direct printing.

You can see right off that there is, indeed, a lot going for this.  It’s got plenty of features, onboard memory, and a resolution that may not be top notch, but is at least within striking distance.  The controls aren’t terrible though they do suffer a bit from the slenderness issues of most compact digital cameras, and the zoom is pretty long for a compact digital camera.

But the best part here is the price–you get all this for the shockingly low price of a hundred and ten bucks out at Best Buy.  And as we’ve all seen, cameras seldom come that cheap.  So you’ll be getting an incredible value with the Samsung SL605, one you should definitely consider if you’re in the market.
