Review: Samsung L85 Camera
Think Camera has reviewed the Samsung L85 and like it for its 8 MP resolution, its manual mode, its intuitive interface and its price tag. What they didn’t like was the cameras tendency to underexpose, its bulky body and its styling which may get a hate or love response.
The L85 was released around April this year and was the first digicam to offer users High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). HDMI is a ground breaking technology which lets the user share their images on a high definition TV screen in their original quality. It has an eight mega pixel resolution and incorporates the famous Schneider Kreuznach 7.8?23.44mm lens with 5x optical zoom. The L85 features 11 scene modes including Night Scene, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow and Text Recognition. The manual exposure control includes Aperture Priority for depth of field, Shutter Priority for high motion shots and Manual adjustment for full aperture and shutter settings. There is also a Continuous Shooting mode for consecutive shots and Auto Exposure Bracketing to shoot consecutive images with different exposure. The L85 has a built in memory of 32MB and is bundled with Samsung’s exclusive "Digimax Reader" software.
In the end they write"The Samsung L85 is well worth consideration by anyone looking for a quality 8MP compact that will turn in solid, reliable results. There's nothing really to fall in love with about the camera but nothing to put you off either. If you like the styling and are looking for a camera that gives quality results without breaking the bank then the L85 should be on your short list."
