Samsung GX-1S DSLR Review

samsung-GX-1S.jpgLets Go Digital have reviewed the Samsung GX-1S and they like it for its compatibility with Pentax lenses, its simple design, its viewfinder which is equipped with a dioptre setting and its intuitive interface. What they didn’t like was the in built flash and that hasn’t added an extra mode for continuous or single focusing.

The Samsung GX-1S is a result of collaboration with Pentax and offers a resolution of 6 Mega Pixel. It would be compatible with all Pentax KAF-mount lenses and Schneider's D-Xenon series lenses. The kit includes a a Schneider f/3.5-5.6 18mm-55mm (28mm-84mm, 35mm-equivalent focal length) lens. ISO settings range from 100 to 1600 and controls include, a power switch, a mode selection dial, a an exposure compensation control, and a status LCD. One will be exposed to a whole range of priority and manual modes, auto bracketing, drive modes, adjustable ISOs (from 100 to 1600 in one-stop increments), three metering modes, and RAW format.

The website concludes "Samsung’s first DSLR, the GX-1S, is a model that happens to be slightly outdated already. However, this does not mean the Samsung GX-1S is a bad camera, in fact, not at all. The Samsung GX 1S is an attractive compact digital SLR camera that leaves very little to be desired as far as clarity and simplicity are concerned. What’s more, it is a camera that will grow along with the skills of the user; the Samsung 1S offers a wide variety of options that will come in more than handy as you expand your photographic skills. This also makes the Samsung GX-1S a very suitable camera for the experienced photographer looking for a compact SLR camera, perhaps in addition to a larger model. Because the GX 1S truly is a small camera.”
