Sanyo VPC-E1090G Camera Review: Fifty Bucks More For Green?
And we’re back in the trenches with another lower-end Sanyo camera, this time, the VPC-E1090G that led me to ask the strangest question I’ve ever heard myself mutter in front of a camera: “What, does it cost fifty bucks more to get it in green?”
The Sanyo VPC E1090 is a ten megapixel camera that offers 3x optical zoom, a 2.7 inch LCD screen, sixteen meg of internal memory, image stabilization, face detection, smile detection, red eye filters, and an included strap and pouch.
As you can see, there’s really not too much difference here between the VPC E1090 and the VPC S1085 that I discussed previously. Both are pretty low end as cameras go, though the fact that the VPC E1090 is retailing for an extra fifty bucks (a hundred dollars even through Walmart) gives me some pause. Is green color so vital in a camera that people will ignore the fact that there are only some minor technical differences between the two (the only real differences I could spot was an extra two megapixel in resolution and smile detection on the E1090)?
And at the hundred dollar level, frankly, I’ve seen vastly better cameras available, even in ten megapixel. So you can probably do quite a bit better than the Sanyo VPC E1090.
