Sanyo VPC E1292 Digital Camera Review–The Broken Clock Theory

The Broken Clock Theory, one of my personal favorite explanations for how the universe as a whole operates, states: “Even a broken clock is right twice a day”.  This essentially means that no matter how broke, stupid, or completely irrational a system is, it will eventually generate something useful or meaningful by the mere act of existing.

And the Broken Clock Theory gets a little extra proof in the form of the Sanyo VPC E1292.

The Sanyo VPC E1292 is a twelve megapixel camera that offers a 3x optical zoom, a 2.8 inch LCD (slightly larger than the normal 2.7), thirty two megs of onboard memory, support for SD and SDHC memory cards, image stabilization, face detection, smile detection and red eye removal.

This is the first model in the Sanyo VPC lineup that hasn’t left me cold or enraged.  It’s sufficiently substantial, with enough included features to make it competitive with any of a hundred other cameras I’ve talked about right here.  Everything is decent enough for a compact digital camera, and while it won’t win any awards any time soon, it is on par with other models.  For a change.

Thus, I can actually recommend the Sanyo VPC E1292–not ahead of any others, mind you, but as one you’ll want to take a look at should you be in the market for a new camera.  It’s got what a lot of others do, and at a hundred and thirty bucks, at a pretty good price, too.
