Lasergraphics, Inc. has recently launched its highly expected pin-registered motion picture film scanning system “Director”. This system is capable of scanning HD and 1.85 images at 9 frames-per-second (fps), full frame 2K at 6 fps, and standard definition at 12 fps. Other than usage in film industry, Director is just the right Digital Intermediate workflow which harmonizes to Lasergraphics’ award-winning lineage of Producer motion picture film recording systems. This scanner supports a low sound CCD area range and endlessly calibrated LED light source ensuring most favorable image excellence on all film stocks. The scanners build-in Keykode reader permit for frame-accurate scanning and for the implant of Keykodes as well as time-codes into DPX output files. It is also equipped by the Positive Air Pressure System with a HEPA filter which averts filth from entering the system at the time of scanning. The scanner is priced at priced at $199,000 for 35mm, and $249,000 for 35mm and 16mm. The company has not made any announcement about its availability till now.
