Sharp’s touch panel/scanner

Sharp Corporation, a renowned name in the field of electronic devices and consumer products has recently introduced a new LCD System equipped with touch screen and scanner functions. In this system an optical sensor is incorporated to each pixel of the LCD panel which kills the requirement to link a film to the panel for touch screen functions which again helps in providing stunning images devoid of losing display image quality. Furthermore, perceptible recognition based on concurrently touching numerous points on the screen is now achievable which was difficult earlier.

Like for example, users can with no trouble strike the screen with two fingers to make bigger or reduce a displayed map. In addition to this, the scanner function facilitates the user to scan in a business card positioned on top of the screen, and improvements to this function are anticipated to permit fingerprint confirmation in the future. Sample shipments of the system will begin in September 2007, but volume production is slated to begin next spring. About the pricing there is no verdict till now from the makers. So, stay tuned till our next updation.
