Recently, Shining Technology announced the launch of its new CitiDISK RS58 Tapeless Video Recorder. This new product has been designed for use in high capacity removable storage media. It comes featuring a cartridge capacity of up to 250GB. It is capable of holding a maximum of 19 hours of DV/HDV footage of 5 hours of HD footage.

The new Shining CitiDISK R258 Tapeless Video Recorder is compatible with various FireWire-enabled video cameras like those of Canon, Sony, Panasonic and JVC. It also offers traditional hard drive with solid state memory configurations for storing more recordings.

Shining CitiDISK R258 Tapeless Video Recorder incorporates a built-in LCD screen with a scrolling menu providing status information. It is also capable of supporting MXF file formats and QuickTime. It is an eco-friendly device that comes optimized for use in high altitudes, cold weather and varied conditions. This recorder is expected to be available in the market in the fall of 2009 at a price that is still undisclosed.
