Sigma DP1 High End Digital Camera
Looks like Sigma was not content with just releases pertaining to lenses and recently also released a new high end point and shoot digital camera. The Sigma DP1 has a crazy 14 megapixel resolution (2652×1768x3 layers) and comes equipped with a 2.5inch, 230,000-pixel resolution LCD monitor.
The Sigma DP1 claims to be "ground-breaking" and uses three silicon embedded layers of photo sensors for absorbing absorb red, green and blue light at different respective depths. The image sensor also is approximately 8 times larger than 1/1.8inch image sensor, approximately 12 times larger than 1/2.5 ordinary point and shoot camera. This is not just another point and shoot digicam, and the DP1 has some great features to its credit.
The Sigma DP1 incorporates both RAW and JPEG image recording formats and uses a 16.6mm F4 lens, with a wide angle field of view equivalent to 28mm on a 35mm film camera. One also comes across a a hot-shoe for attaching a dedicated external flash and a high performance external viewfinder (VF11).
