Sony bloggie MHS-CM5/V Camcorder Review–Compact and Feature Packed
I have generally not had a lot of good things to say about the compact camcorders like the Flip video series and suchlike, but after coming in contact with Kodak’s line, I’m starting to turn around. Now I tackle a bit of Sony’s bloggie series, specifically, the MHS-CM5/V.
The Sony bloggie MHS-CM5/V offers a 5x optical zoom with augmenting 20x digital zoom, a 2.5 inch LCD monitor, SteadyShot image stabilization, face detection technology, digital still photo mode, mono microphone, support for Secure Digital and Memory Stick memory cards, a USB interface and included editing software.
It’s a fairly simple camera, but there’s still a good variety of features here. I like the zoom, which is something a lot of other cameras (even the recent Kodak Playsports) didn’t really mention. Sure, it’s not a terribly long zoom, less than fifty feet from what I can tell by my rather basic pace test, but it’s there, and that’s something worth mentioning.
It doesn’t have near the features of full-size cameras, but it does have a lot going for it. Is it worth the two hundred bucks that Best Buy is asking for it? That’s strictly a personal call. Mine is not so much.
But the end result is that the Sony bloggie MHS-CM5/V is a decent, feature-packed, but relatively expensive camera that may not bring the value, but does bring the quality.
