Sony DCR-HC52 Camera Review–Great Controls and Long Zoom

Sony cameras are usually great, and the camcorders are no exception.  The Sony DCR-HC52 is a solid camcorder model, in line with the quality we’ve come to expect from the Sony line.

The Sony DCR-HC52 is a Mini DV camcorder with 40x optical zoom, 2.7 inch touch-panel SwivelScreen LCD display, NightShot Plus Infrared System for low-light environments, a variety of picture effects including monotone, pastel and sepia.  Plus, there are plenty of scene selection modes, including beach, candle, fireworks, landscape, portrait, sports lesson, spotlight, and sunrise & sunset.

This thing has a spectacularly long zoom on it–I actually tried reading the text off another camera’s screen from thirteen feet, and it actually worked.  It’s not just any camera that can do that, and the Sony DCR-HC52 managed it.  I couldn’t believe how excellent the clarity was on this little beauty.  And it’s especially great when you consider this retails for about two hundred and forty dollars.

A great camera at a great price–that’s what the Sony DCR-HC52 adds up to.
