Sony DCR-SR47 Camcorder Review–Better Than The DVD 650

It’s always interesting when you can talk about a camcorder one day that looks good, until you discover, the next day that there’s a slightly better model to be had.  And that’s exactly what happened to me when I got a look at the Sony SR 47 after trying the Sony DVD 650.

The Sony SR 47 is a  hybrid style camcorder, meaning that it can shoot directly to DVD or to an internal hard disc.  The hard disc is sixty full gigs, giving roughly fifteen hours of video on the highest quality setting.  It also has HDD Smart Protection that protects video from loss if the camcorder is dropped. It’s also got a 60X optical zoom (2000x digital!), SteadyShot image stabilization, memory stick duo compatibility, one touch burn, 2.7 inch touch panel LCD, and built-in zoom microphone.

It’s got more options than the DVD 650, it’s got a better zoom (I got small print from about SIXTY feet compared to the DVD 650′s fifty), and it’s got great controls.

The Sony DCR-SR47 is a terrific buy, and you can get it on Amazon for a hundred and ninety bucks if you’re willing to go used.
