Sony DSLR-A330L Camera Review–Powerful Camera At High Price

We’ve got another Sony camera up for a look today, and it’s a pretty powerful one at that.  The problem is that you’ll pay for that kind of power, and pay pretty sharply.  Today we’re talking about the Sony DSLR-A330L, and it’s got power with a prime price tag to boot.

The Sony DSLR-A330L is a ten megapixel DSLR with antidust technology to boost image clarity, 2.7 inch Clear Photo Plus LCD monitor, Bionz image processor, Super SteadyShot image stabilization, dynamic range optimizer, Smart Teleconverter 2x zoom (which is actually the equivalent of a telephoto lens from what I can tell), a variety of scene and white balance modes, nine point TTL phase-detecting autofocus, a burst shooting mode, onboard pop-up flash, support for Memory Stick and Secure Digital memory cards, and included editing software.

The features here are clearly higher end, with lots of highly specialist tools, and indeed, the camera works nicely.  The controls took a good long while to get used to, though, and even now I’m not sure I managed to do much more than make the zoom work.  Your mileage may vary, naturally, but this is a heavy-grade specialist tool.  That zoom is amazing, though–it may not be easy to work, but once you get it working, it’s unbelievable.

I’ve made a big issue about the price of this one, and when you consider Best Buy wants six hundred bucks for it, you can see why I made a big deal out of it.  The Sony DSLR-A330L is definitely a specialist tool, but it’s packing loads of power behind its hefty price tag.  It may be more than most will need, but if you’re prepared for a price tag as big as its learning curve, then this one should suit your needs pretty well.
