Sony has a new DVDirect camcorder-to-DVD recorder, the VRD-MC6, which is ready to help you record AVCHD DVDs straight from your camera and add some 5.1 sound to them. The device can also record videos straight from your Memory Sticks and the AVCHD DVDs can be played later on your Blu-ray player.

The VRD-MC6 knows how to write regular standard definition videos on regular DVDs. If you want to go wild you can also create photo slideshows on DVDs and add some music background to them.
