Sony HDRXR100 Review–Nowhere Near The Camera For The Money
I really, REALLY hate it when I pick up a camcorder to try, especially when that camera costs upward of eight hundred bucks, and it turns out to be a total underperformer. That’s exactly the case with the Sony HDRXR100.
Granted, this camera comes with a lot of choice options, like the ability to record in 1920×1080 high definition video, and in 4 megapixel stills. It includes an eighty gig hard drive and face and smile detection capability. Plus it includes proprietary software for easy image and video transfers.
Sure, it’s got loads of options, but when I tried to use the zoom on this one, I discovered that it was actually a lot lower quality than several lower-priced models. It’s a great camera, but it doesn’t have the range of other models. This is the worst part about it–how can it be a great camera, with plenty of options, but not have the range?
The end result is that this is an overpriced camera that doesn’t have the utility of much more value-focused models. The Sony HDRXR100 is a grave disappointment.
