Sony is all set to add a new shoulder-mount camcorder to its XDCAM EX™ video product range that is PMW-EX1R HD, the successor to PMW-EX1. The PMW-EX1R comes added with DVCAM™ recording capability and numerous other advanced features.

The PMW-EX1R features an HDMI output, a higher-resolution viewfinder, cache recording and one-push auto iris. Some of the ergonomic enhancements of the camcorder include easy-to-access switches, an improved hand grip for better balance and one-click S&Q mode. Other outstanding features of the camcorder include smooth handle zoom start/stop, an image inversion that reverses an image upside down and left/right and 1440×1080 recording mode at 35Mbps.

The suggested pricing for the new Sony PMW-EX1R HD camcorder is $7,790 and is planned to be available for purchase by December, 2009.
