Sony Unveils Three New Camera Lenses

Today, Sony unveiled three new Alpha A-Mount lenses known as the Distagon T* 24mm F2, DT 35mm F1.8 and 85mm F2.8 SAM. The Distagon T* 24mm F2 ZA SSM features wide-angle functionality and the Super Sonic wave Motor for full-frame cameras and a focal range of 36mm for APS-C devices. Furthermore, the DT 35mm F1.8 SAM and the 85mm F2.8 SAM are being marketed as inexpensive, “Easy Choice” lenses, although the 85mm lens supports full-frame and APS-C cameras but both lenses carry the Smooth Auto focus Motor feature.

Interestingly enough, the Easy Choice lenses are intended for first-time camera users and professionals alike. Thus, the Distagon T* 24mm F2 is due to be released in September for €1,250 / £1,100. Meanwhile, the the 85mm F2.8 SAM will cost €250 / £220 while the DT 35mm F1.8 is priced at €200 / £175 and they’re due to come out in October. However, there is no current information concerning availability of these Sony lenses for the U.S. at this time.
