The Sony DCR-DVD308 is equipped with an 1/6" Advanced HAD CCD and also the proprietary Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization system, which is known to combat the dreaded camera shake. One also comes across a professional quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens which prevents flaring and ghosting and help in producing vibrant and sharp images.

You can directly to a 3" DVD in either single or dual layer formats and play them back in compatible DVD players, computers, and even the Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 video game consoles. The camcorder also has widescreen capabilities and lets you record and playback video in widescreen mode, 16:9 aspect ratio or in 4:3 aspect ratio.
