Sony expands its lineage of Intelligent Multi-Codec Network Cameras with the introduction of its two new SNC-RX530N and SNC-RX570Nmodels at the ASIS 2007. These models belong to Sony’s third generation of network cameras. Sony's SNC-RX570 model is equipped with a 36x optical zoom lens and offers a zoom capability of up to 432x when used with its 12x digital zoom whereas the SNC-RX530 camera boasts of an 18x optical zoom lens. Both the SNC-RX530N and SNC-RX570N cameras are expected to be available in December. The company has not revealed the price yet.
The SNC-RX570 model integrates DynaView™ technology which improves camera dynamic range by 128 times for clearer image reproduction. Interestingly the camera takes snapshots two times-first with a normal speed and then at a higher shutter speed; finally combining the images using an advanced DSP LSI. The latest line-up uses advanced compression technologies to transmit image data in three formats viz. JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264.
“You can transfer MPEG-4 images over a WAN or an Internet VPN, where network bandwidth is limited, while storing high-resolution JPEG images on a server configured on the LAN,” Lazatin said. Sony SNC-RX530N and SNC-RX570N Digital Cameras support Sony’s own wireless cards, including the newly introduced SNCA-CFW5 CompactFlash card.
