The W80 has a resolution of 7.2 effective megapixels and has been equipped with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5-inch (6.2cm) LCD screen.

Sony is targeting the W80 at the average user who wants to capture holidays, special occasions etc on camera. However that doesn't mean that the Sony Cyber-Shot is lacking in any department. One comes across a host of advance technologies including; Sony Face Detection technology which picks up faces form the crowd and focuses on them and adjusts exposure, flash with red-eye reduction, white balance and colour settings accordingly and Double Anti-Blur technology which combines Super SteadyShot image stabilization with an extremely high sensitivity of ISO 3200 (REI).

The Cyber-shot W80 is available in colors like; silver, black, white and pink and supports full HD output which lets one view their images on on any BRAVIA television or HD-ready displays.
