Speed Cameras Save Lives

In most parts of the world, speed cameras are initially thought of as a means of apprehending erring drivers. But is that all they are for? Apparently the underlying factor has been overlooked…SAFETY. Speed cameras are used to apprehend drivers who disregard the speed limit. This practice is not meant for people to earn a living. Rather, it is meant to teach them a lesson and pry them away from potential harm as car accidents which has been growing rampant in various parts of the globe.

The UK is one destination that has a lot of cameras installed and has embraced this wholeheartedly. The need to bring down cases and rates of accidents and deaths due to reckless driving has been a directive and apparently this is why they call speed cameras to save lives.

And if you think that is enough, what until you hear what the British government has planned. The Government plans to introduce ‘time over distance’ cameras that can measure a car’s average speed over the amount of miles traveled so that they can impose additional fees which may eventually force people to limit their road traveling to various parts of the UK.

This new scheme promises to hit two issues:

  • Remind motorists of prioritizing travel and use of cars only when it is really needed.
  • Address the growing problem of carbon emissions which as we all know originates from vehicles still using fuel as their main source of power.
