Here is something photographers online can try joining. The Mississippi Press’ Summer Vacation Photo Gallery unfurls again, calling on photography artists to submit varied shots regardless if they are scenic, serious or goofy. Photo entries should be submitted by 3 p.m. by July 31.

Photo entries will be published in the paper throughout the summer season and all eligible photos also will be posted online at The Mississippi Press Web site. The winning photo will be announced on August 9 from a panel made up of staff photographers.

Details on the contest:

• Photos must have been taken on or after May 24, 2009, and follow the theme of the contest: Summer Vacation.
• One photo per entrant and e-mail address will be accepted.
• Cropping is allowed, but images cannot be digitally manipulated. Turn off camera time stamp before taking photos. Photos that include a date prior to the start of the contest will not be accepted.
• Photos must be taken by Jackson or George county residents or contain images of Jackson or George county residents.
• Full names of everyone in the photo, listed from left to right, and a description of what the photo depicts must be provided.
• Include your name, mailing address and daytime phone number in case more information is needed.
  Photos submitted to the newspaper by e-mail must be in jpeg format at 300 dots-per-inch resolution or higher and must be 3 by 5 inches in size or larger

Interested participants can email their entries to mscontest@themississippipress.com and put “Summer Vacation Photo Gallery” in the notes line. Alternatively, photos can be mailed to Vacation Photos, The Mississippi Press, P.O. Box 849, Pascagoula, MS 39568-0849.
