I’m a little dismayed, tackling the Sanyo VPC-S1085 camera today, because while there’s no question that this is a good value, it may be just a little TOO bare bones for most users.

The Sanyo VPC-S1085 is a ten megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, sixteen megs of onboard memory with memory card compatibility to add another eight gigs, image stabilization, face detection, red eye removal and an included strap and pouch.

Now, like I said, this is VERY much a bare bones system–sixteen megs of memory and a 3x optical zoom are pretty much as low as it gets without going into older model cameras.  But when you consider that they only want about fifty bucks for it on Walmart’s web site, it’s a very good value.

The problem here is, of course, that it’s very much an instance of getting what you pay for, and here, what you pay for is not very much at all.  The Sanyo VPC-S1085 is a very basic camera, and if that’s all you need, you’ll get in very cheaply.  Otherwise, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
