Okay, this is too good not to pass on.  It’s actually out of stock right now, but they are, from the looks of it, planning to restock and continue to offer them.  It’s an Aiptek camcorder for fifty bucks.

Specifically, it’s the Aiptek IS-DV 5, a camera with internal flash memory and MPEG-4 shooting capability (which at last report was about the same as VHS quality, which is hardly terrible but nowhere near what you CAN get today), and it’s selling through Amazon, where it’s currently out of stock but planning to restock.

Now, you might thin, and with good reason, that a fifty dollar camcorder is a pile of steamy garbage, so why would you want to buy one anyway?  Here, you’d likely turn out to be wrong, as a surprisingly large body of support is in for the Aiptek.  Almost as many people give it five stars as give it one, and the average rating is a three out of five.  Most will tell you that this is certainly not a bad rating.  it’s not a great one, but it’s definitely not bad.

So if you’re looking for an inexpensive, functional camcorder, keep your eyes front on Amazon for the Aiptek.
