Infrared Cameras Solve Crimes By Finding Hidden Tattoos

We’ve already seen infrared cameras do some incredible things–they’ve found people in burning buildings and snow-choked woods, spotted pollution, and they’ve even gone hunting for comets in the depths of space.

Add this to the list: they can find tattoos that were previously hidden.

Apparently, using an infrared camera can determine if a tattoo was original, or if it’s simply covering up another tattoo that was formerly underneath the new one by checking for hidden layers.

I know, it’s a pretty interesting idea, isn’ t it?  Oh, sure, it won’t exactly find criminals hiding out on the streets but it might well help a couple of old ones get identified if they were picked up on new charges, plus it removes the chances of a pursued suspect removing an identifying mark.

Hopefully it’ll help drop some crime rates, because frankly, it seems like they only just get worse.
