Digital still cameras reach 48% US penetration

I remember being with my family when we purchased our first digital camera, it was a Sony branded 2.1MP camera with a price tag that would seem ridiculous today. Well, the times have changed as camera technology improved companies dropped prices making for good quality at a much more affordable price.
Commenting on this fact comes Dublin-based research group, Research and Markets, who say that around 48% of the US has access to a digital still camera.
There is no arguing this as it seems just about everyone has their own digital camera. Sure, most of them are using these point-and-click cameras to upload Facebook pictures but there is without a doubt still a dedicated group of photography enthusiasts benefiting from these affordable cameras.
