I think that we all know from watching films like Armageddon (directed by Michael Bay) and Deep Impact that we are probably not prepared for a giant asteroid from space to hit planet Earth.
Well, I'm not certain how well you can prepare for an Extinction Level Event, but at least we might be able ...

What you are seeing here is an infrared image of Zeta Ophiuchi. Don't ask me how to pronounce the part that comes after Zeta.
This Zeta Ophiuchi is a supergiant star that is actually blue, even though the interstellar dust makes it looks red. Anyway, this was shot with NASA's Wide-field Infrared ...

Who knew NASA was so technical when it came to filming almost every angle of their Space Shuttle launch? Now they've made a wonderful 45 minute documentary of a Space Shuttle launch where NASA engineers explain the cameras, lenses, and all the technical details about the cameras they use to film the launch.

NASA asked Hasselblad to make it a camera which can sustain the harsh environment of space, and Hasselblad, makers of ultra-high-end photo gear, did so. However, NASA never sent it up, for some reason, and now the space camera is available on eBay for the cool sum of $33,751.

This is not the first time we have seen people experiment on some cooky stuff. Something like placing two old Canon cameras placed in a Styrofoam box sealed with ductape and added with orange paint and a weather balloon. An odd combination indeed but good enough to deliver NASA-like images 24 miles in the air.

Yes, it's true--Hasselblad was the camera that went to the moon, but when the time came for NASA to place a new order of camera gear, where did they turn? Not back to Hasselblad, but to Nikon.
NASA just ordered eleven new Nikon D3s DSLRs, along with AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lenses. They plan ...

Now here's an awesome sight for you, folks--colliding auroras.
You know auroras, right? Those big bands of electromagnetic hoo-ha that make all the pretty colors in the upper atmosphere? Yeah, those! Well, apparently, the crew out at UCLA discovered something that no one had caught before now--sometimes auroras smack into each other, making those startling effects. ...

Okay, folks, remember when I told you we'd have an update on the pictures taken of the moon's surface after the LCROSS slammed into it? Well, we've finally got that update, and man, what a doozy. They found WATER.
Water, on the moon. Well, more specifically ICE, but all ice is is just solidified water. And ...
