Kodak’s Waterproof Camcorder, the Playsport
That’s actually pretty awesome when you stop and think about it, isn’t it? A waterproof camcorder from Kodak!
The PlaySport from Kodak is actually a refination of the original Zi8 camcorder, and is slated to cost a hundred and fifty bucks. It’s a pocket sized video camcorder that will take 1080p HD video at 30 frames per second, just like the Zi8 did. It makes video sharing easy with built in software and USB cable output for fast and easy transer to YouTube, Facebook and the like. It’s also got electronic image stabilization, just like the Zi8, to cut down on the hand jitter. Plus, it’ll capture stills in five meg resolution and come in your choice of colors.
Interesting story–since no one really knows what Zi8 refers to, Kodak turned to customers to name the PlaySport, which is probably a vastly better name than Zi8 could ever be.
They’ll be in stores this April, and we’ll be reviewing them here when we can finally lay hands on one.
