Sanyo VPCX1200 Camera Review–It’s Not Much Better Here

I’m really starting to develop a downright Pavlovian response to the combination of words “Sanyo” and “VPC”, and every time I see them together I start snarling.  I have yet to encounter a GOOD Sanyo VPC that isn’t either bargain-basement crapola or so overpriced for what you get that it’s almost a joke.  Sadly, that’s what we’ll get out of the Sanyo VPCX1200, a package that’s overpriced for what you get.

The Sanyo VPCx1200 is a twelve megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom, 2.7 inch LCD screen, face detection, image stabilization, smile detection, red eye removal, sixteen megs of onboard memory, memory card compatibility that can expand the capability to sixteen gigs, USB port, strap, charger, and editing software.

See, this isn’t exactly BAD–sixteen meg isn’t terrible for onboard memory capacity, but when you consider that this is going for a hundred and twenty bucks at Walmart, you’ve got to consider:  you can do so much better, with only a few dollars more, with cameras we’ve covered here several times, that it really gives you pause to consider purchasing this one.

The Sanyo VPCX1200 isn’t a bad camera, admittedly, it’s just a very poor value when compared to other cameras across the spectrum.
