Tamron 60mm F2 macro lens

Tamron has announced they are developing a 60mm F2 macro lens that provides 1:1 magnification for APS-C sensors. The lens will be called the SP AF60mm F/2.0 Di II Macro 1:1 and will be available in Canon, Sony and Nikon mounts (with a built-in autofocus motor to allow AF to operate on the D40, D40X and D60).

The design, which contains two low dispersion elements to correct various aberrations, lets you achieve 1:1 magnification at a functioning distance of 100mm. The F2 maximum aperture allows it to be a whole stop faster than other comparable lenses. Price and availability to be announced.
