The Ghost Hunter Camera Thief Wants Probation

Remember when, not so long ago, we brought you the story of the ghost hunter that walked off with a pricey infrared camera that didn’t belong to him?  Well, apparently, there’s a follow up to that, and here’s the deal.

He’s applied for enrollment in something called “accelerated rehabilitation”, which is explained as a “special program for first offenders that can result in erasure of the criminal charges after a probationary period of not longer than two years”.

Frankly, this sounds like a pretty fair idea to me–chances are the camera’s already been returned to its rightful owner.  Why keep a black mark on someone’s record forever and a day over this?  I’ve always been a believer that once you serve a debt to society society in turn should FORGET THE DEBT FOREVER, not keep records of the fact that, at one point, you owed a debt which you in turn paid.  No word on if the court’s going to accept this, but I certainly hope they do.
