The Movieline / Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards

You may wonder why I’m mentioning movie news in a space about cameras.  Well, if you consider that the word “camera” is included right in the title, then the idea becomes a little less opaque.  But just in case, I’ll finish up the motivation behind it in description of the event.

Most of the time in Hollywood, the so-called “technical” portion of the awards shows is a lackluster affair that has no red carpet, gets no air time, and is often held in some out of the way rathole.  Well, the folks out at Movieline have been running for the last five years now an awards show in which achievement BEHIND the cameras can get some recognition for once and NOT have to feel like second class citizens.

This is actually gravely important, especially to camera enthusiasts like ourselves.  Let’s face it, folks, the entire Hollywood movie machine RUNS on cameras.  If it weren’t for some of our favorite tools and devices no one would ever see a movie or TV show again.  So sure, maybe our awards get handed out in some rec center basement, but thanks to Movieline, we can get a little extra praise for our weapons of choice.
