The Pentax K100D DSLR



Pentax means serious business with the yet to be released Pentax K100D , a 6 MP DSLR meant to compete with the Nikon D50 and Canon 350D. This DSLR is a throwback to the iconic K series of SLRS in the late seventies and in fact is compatible with a whole gamut of Pentax lenses like PENTAX K-, KA-, KAF- and KAF2-mount lenses; screw-mount lenses (with an adapter); and 645- and 67-system lenses (with an adapter).The DSLR features a 2.5 inch LCD which sports a wide-view design for viewing both 140 degrees vertically and horizontally and it has a resolution of up to 10,000 pixels. Via the onboard zoom function users can delete, edit and view images on the LCD.

The Pentax K100D features a 23.5mm x 15.7mm CCD image sensor which is capable of 6.1 resolution and also includes a penta-mirror viewfinder. This viewfinder is a photographers treat as it incorporates both PENTAX finder optics and a Natural-Bright-Matte II focusing screen. The on board Shake Reduction (SR) system promises amazing results even in high ISOs and low lighting conditions by reducing camera shake and the SAFOX VIII autofocus system with 11 sensor points (with nine cross-type sensors) automatically focuses. The K100D has the highest auto sensitivity setting in its class, an impressive ISO 3200 and picture modes include old time favorites like Portrait, Landscape and Macro.

This software would include applications like PENTAX PHOTO Laboratory 3 that features the reliable SILKYPIX image-processing engine (developed by ICHIKAWA SOFT LABORATORY) for RAW data processing, and the PENTAX PHOTO Browser 3.
