The PlayStation Eye Brings Facial Recognition to the Table

It’s not every day that we talk about gaming and related accessories but when it comes to a webcam capable of recognizing your face we have to check it out no matter if it’s meant to be used in games only. The PlayStation Eye is a webcam designed for Sony’s console and it’s definitely going to come with facial recognition support. According to Kish Hirani, Sony Europe’s Head of Developer Services, the Eye will be able to:

detect gender and even the age of the face, separate facial features such as the nose, eyes and ears, and even detect whether you’re smiling or not.

How much would one cost? When will it be launched? We’re waiting for Sony to explain it all soon!
