The Wittnauer Cine-Twin Camera Projector
You have to give the researchers over at Retrothing credit for digging up this piece of history. As you all know, we have posted about how great the Nikon S1000pj was for being the first camera with a built-in projector. However, it seems that it was not really the first camera with such an option, a actual camera had this feature was way back in 1957!
The camera is the Wittnauer Cine-Twin camera projector, an 8mm film camera that could transform into a projector with the help of a special base and some add-ons. However, during those years you will agree that backup parts like projector bulbs or the batteries used to operate it were scarce and pretty much expensive. So with that, you now know why it never really hit it big.
But these days Nikon has all the equipmented needed to to make a projector camera possible and affordable . So maybe we can re-christen the Nikon S1000pj camera as the first “Working” Nikon S1000pj camera with a built-in projector.
