Thermal Camera Finds Lost Tot In Yukon

Camera enthusiasts, listen up–one day your gear may be called on to save a young boy’s life.  That and the life of his newfound faithful dog.

You’re wondering what I mean by that, and I’ll go ahead and elaborate.  There was this two year old tyke from Kamloops, British Columbia, who went camping with his family in the Yukon Territory and wandered off.  Of course, this is panic mode grande style for the parents, who called in rescue crews.  Anyway, just over one full day–twenty five hours later–they find two year old Kale in the woods, who appeared to have made a friend, a runaway dog named Koda who stumbled across the wandering tot.  The pair were sufficiently large a heat source to be caught on FLIR thermal imaging cameras, and when a team was sent to investigate the heat source, there was Kale, and there was Koda.

Koda’s owner, meanwhile, let Kale keep the dog, which is really all you can do under the circumstances.

So like I said, camera buffs…keep your batteries charged, because you never know when you’ll need to save a life or two.
