Vivitar’s Mini Digital camera is a lot of fun in a small package with a small price tag: $9.99. The tiny camera is one of the most compact 3-in-1 (still, video and Web camera) digital cameras avaiable anywhere, with the ability to store up to 243 photos. Thanks to its 16Mbyte memory, this mighty little digital is more powerful than it looks. Included with the keychain camera is a CD-ROM containing camera drivers and ArcSoft’s PhotoImpression imaging software, one AAA battery, a USB cable, and a bonus vinyl carrying case with belt loop.
The storage capacity is only correct at the lowest resolution (176 x 144). At the maximum 352 x 288 (CIF) resolution, the Vivitar Mini will store 20 photos. Yes it’s a bit gimmicky, and you might well ask what the point is with cell phone cameras getting more and more powerful, but it’s still a lot of fun. The Vivitar Mini makes a great little gift to attach to a card or a boring gift certificate. Plus, it’s a lot of fun. What could be wrong with that?
