There are few greater moments in a blogger’s life as being proven right.

Remember all those times I told you about how webcams make good security cameras on the ultra-cheap?  Well, there were those who said that such a primitive system would never manage to catch a criminal in the act–or at least, they were saying that before today.

A robbery in Midwest City was actually witnessed by a woman in the Philippines, who was watching the incident unfold live…on her husband’s webcam.  She turned over a copy of the footage to the police, who then took it, investigated, and made three arrests.

As it turned out, the woman was married to an Air Force master sergeant who met her husband in the Philippines, and they communicated via webcam while her entrance visa is being processed.  She was watching the webcam feed and, as a result, caught the robbery.

So here’s one success story for the security webcam!
