White Phosphor Night Vision From ATN–Clearer Than the Green Stuff?
So I got this tip the other day about ATN’s newest line of night vision. You’re all probably familiar with night vision at least in passing, because you’ve seen TV and movies that use it. It’s always green, right? Kinda weird, alien, a bit disconcerting? Well, the crew out at ATN figured they’d go a whole different direction with it–black and white.
Right now you’re probably goggling at your monitor and screaming about how black and white was SO 1950s, but as it turns out, a black and white image is significantly easier to see than a green-tinged image. I’ve actually got a side-by-side comparison pic above from ATN, and dig the word directly:
Studies show that nighttime scenes appear remarkably more natural in black and white versus the usual green. B&W provides clearer information about contrast, shapes and shadows. ATN’s White Phosphor Technology© provides users with this natural B&W night vision image.
It’s true, folks–that black and white sure looks clearer to me. I admit that clarity is somewhat in the eye of the beholder but this beholder likes what he sees.
